IS IT SAFE TO FEED MY DOG RAW FOOD?
YES! Absolutely it is safe to feed your canine companion raw dog food. The most important thing is to make sure you are getting it from a credible supplier as the raw food needs to have a scientific balance of nutrients for your canine. At Emmarentia Raw we use a balance of up to 9 proteins with added vitamins and minerals that are crucial for your dogs well-being! See exactly what we put into our healthy canine meal.

IS RAW SAFE FOR MY PUPPY?
Yes, absolutely raw food is completely safe and highly nutritious for your puppy to grow up with a strong immune system! Moving puppies onto a raw diet is easier than transitioning adults, just move straight on.
CAN DOGS WITH A SENSITIVE STOMACH EAT RAW?
Recipes with richer meats like Lamb or Venison might be too much for them, but our Beef and Ostrich recipes are perfect for any canine with a sensitive stomach. Many people worry that the meat itself will be too rich or difficult to digest, but a raw diet is what your dog's body is designed to eat, meaning it is easy to digest. Many people report the first big change they see in their dog is their sensitive stomach disappearing all together!
CAN I MIX KIBBLE AND RAW FOOD TOGETHER?
Yes. While we recommend feeding 100% raw to see all the benefits of a raw diet, changing as little as 25% of your dog’s diet to fresh food can have massive benefits for them*.
There is much debate about the pros and cons of mixing kibble and raw and we encourage you to do your own research and decide what will be best for your dog.

SHOULD I ADD ANYTHING TO THE RAW FOOD?
You do not need to add anything at all to an Emmarentia Raw meal. We like to give whole sardines to our canines as well as a whole egg - shell included! - one or two times a week . You can also add in a natural probiotic from time to time, we like to use cultured buttermilk or kefir.
DOES FEEDING RAW CAUSE AGGRESSION/INCREASED HUNTING BEHAVIOUR?
Great question but you can sigh in relief because it absolutely does not! Just the same way that eating a divine rump steak cooked to perfection doesn’t make you want to run wild.
What it does do is put them at peak performance as they are getting the nutrients they need to function at their best! So if you have a working dog it will help them to be at optimal health but if you have a normal companion canine they're not going to develop a hunting drive overnight!
WHERE DO WE MAKE OUR FOOD?
Our food is processed carefully in a food manufacturing factory certified for human consumption. Our food is microbiologically tested for all of your nasty pathogens that could potentially grow in raw meat & vegetables. Emmarentia Raw Pty Ltd recipe has been registered with the Department of Agriculture in South Africa and tested with nutritional scientists to make sure that natural vitamins and minerals are active in our foods.
WHY DO WE USE TUBS FOR OUR PACKAGING?
As an environmentally conscious brand, we very much care about our footprint on this earth. From our cuts of meat to our packaging (which is not cheap) we take the extra effort to provide the dog owner with the least messy and sustainable packaging we can find. We reuse our tubs which we collect from our clients on a monthly basis, this makes for no single use plastic wastage which makes us VERY happy. We understand that the storage is not as easy as flat plastic bags however it’s not enough to deter us from keeping our promise to the earth.
WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE ON OUR PRODUCT?
Our products have a 3 month shelf life as they are frozen at -18 degrees which is the temperature at which pathogens are unable to grow in. Please check the stipulated best before date on your products so you can then see how long you can store for.
After defrosting, product is good for 2-3 days after defrosting. Make sure to always refrigerate your canine meal after use.
HOW DO WE ENSURE THE QUALITY OF OUR PRODUCTS?
Each batch that is created is logged with where the meat & vegetables come from, what elements were used in the batch of the food we produce. Should there be an issue, please contact us directly first so we can start the process of finding out what is the cause of the mishap, whether it be the food or maybe just a reaction (which is highly unlikely) from your canine.
